The science

How a laser quietly reshapes the cornea — and your sight.

A delicate flap

A femtosecond laser creates a thin, hinged flap in the outer cornea — no blades, no stitches.

Reshaping with light

An excimer laser removes microscopic amounts of tissue, reshaping the cornea so light focuses cleanly on the retina.

Natural healing

The flap is replaced and bonds within minutes. Vision sharpens overnight and continues refining for several weeks.

The journey

From your first consultation to crystal-clear mornings.

Every reputable LASIK clinic follows a similar arc. Here's what to expect.

  1. 01

    Free consultation

Corneal mapping, prescription check and candidacy review — typically 60–90 minutes.

  2. 02

    The procedure

A femtosecond laser reshapes the cornea in about 10 minutes per eye. You stay awake; only numbing drops are used.

  3. 03

    The next morning

Most patients wake up with 20/20 or better vision and return to work within 24–48 hours.

  4. 04

    Lifelong clarity

Follow-ups at 1 day, 1 week and 1, 3 and 6 months ensure the cornea heals beautifully.

Good questions

What people ask before saying goodbye to glasses.

Does LASIK hurt?
No. Numbing eye drops are used and the procedure itself takes about ten minutes per eye. Most patients feel mild dryness or grittiness for a day or two afterwards.
Am I a candidate?
Generally you should be 18+, have a stable prescription for at least a year, healthy corneas, and not be pregnant or nursing. A free consultation is the only way to know for sure.
How long does the result last?
The reshaping is permanent. Age-related changes like presbyopia (reading vision after ~40) and cataracts can still develop later, but the LASIK correction itself doesn't wear off.
What does it cost in the U.S.?
Typically $2,000–$3,000 per eye for modern bladeless LASIK. Most clinics offer 0% financing over 24 months.
